Salazar Endorses Martinez
A New Leader for Southern Colorado
Dear Friends,
I have had the privilege of working alongside Crestina Martinez for the past decade. During that time I have witnessed Crestina’s unmatched passion, leadership and dedication to Southern Colorado. It is with great pride that I have endorsed her candidacy for State Senate District 35 and hope that you will join me in supporting Crestina!
I remember when I tried to recruit Crestina to work for me in my Congressional office in Washington, DC. Although she was intrigued and tempted to leave the Valley for the “big city,” she gracefully declined. She was committed to her community and to the important work she was doing back home. I was very proud of and impressed by that commitment, and it is because of that commitment that I am asking you to join me in supporting her campaign today.

The true mark of a public servant is what they do for their community. It is amazing when you look at what Crestina has accomplished; she has represented our communities at the local, regional, state and national level fighting for issues that are so important to Southern Colorado – keeping jobs in our rural communities, protecting agriculture and enhancing healthcare. Her proven track record of getting things done is why she has been recognized by her peers as Colorado Freshman County Commissioner of the Year in 2009 and by community members as San Luis Valley Person of the Year in 2011.
Crestina has a history and tradition of working with all Southern Coloradans, across party lines, to bridge gaps and create opportunities for our economy, communities, and quality of life. I know she will fight for our youth and seniors, veterans and active duty military, farmers and ranchers, teachers and health care workers. And as the daughter of a farmer and rancher from Colorado’s oldest town, who grew up irrigating and moving cows, I know she will fight to protect the land and water of Southern Colorado.
Sincerely,
John T. Salazar
